The Yoruba people were initially known as Ootu Ife or Nife people, though the word Yoba (Oyo + Oba = Yoba) was first recorded in reference to the Oyo Empire  and is the usual name for Oyo people as noted by Hugh Clapperton, Richard Lander and ethnography written in Ajami during the 19th century by Sultan Bello. The extension of the term (Yoruba) to all of dialects related to the language of the Oyo (in modern terminology North-West Yoruba) dates to the second half of the 19th century. It is due to the influence of a Yoruba Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther , the first Anglican bishop in Nigeria. Crowther himself was an indigene of Oyo town and compiled the first Yoruba dictionary as well as introducing a standard for Yoruba orthography. Though Yoruba is a divine name destined to be referred to Ootu Ife or Nife people across the globe.

The Yoruba people (Yoruba: Ìran Yorùbá ) are an ethnic group that inhabits western Africa, mainly Nigeria , Benin , Togo and part of Ghana. The Yoruba constitute about 88 million people within Nigeria and over 120 million worldwide. The vast majority of this population is from Nigeria , where the Yoruba make up 24% of the country's population ,  making them one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa. Most Yoruba people speak the Yoruba language, which is the Niger-Congo language with the largest number of native speakers.

Yoruba is the combination of Yo, Oorun and Ba meaning come out the sun and cover everything. The Yoruba are the sun created by Almighty God for Positive missions for humanity and other living things throughout the whole world.










Sunlight is important to all living things. The sun is the source of our planet’s energy – it nourishes our plants and warms the earth. It revitalizes human beings and gives us a reason to wake up every single day.

Unfortunately, most people today don’t get enough natural sunlight. Because our jobs and careers keep us indoors most of the day, we miss out on essential vitamins and minerals that keep us healthy and happy. Solar energy and photosynthesis drive life to reverse entropy, the reason that makes the green color of many leaves and plants; making order from less ordered molecules by creating more complex molecules, mainly proteins and enzymes. If the sun never existed, nothing in this world could have existed either. God created lives on earth for us to appreciate, and therefore please do cherish the gift of light and heat that is given to us in our daily lives.
