             What Is The Meaning Of Yoruba The Yoruba people were initially known as Ootu Ife or Nife people, though the word Yoba (Oyo + Oba = Yoba) was first recorded in reference to the Oyo Empire  and is the usual name for Oyo people as noted by Hugh Clapperton, Richard Lander and ethnography written in Ajami during the 19th century by Sultan Bello.
